Two French hearts, one South African dream, and a passion for terroir.
To celebrate beginnings
Rooted in Bordeaux’s vine heritage, Léo Boisnier brought his passion to South Africa’s sunlit Cape, where he joined forces with Alexandre Barrière Izard — a seasoned connoisseur of the South African terroirs. Together, they founded Frenchcraft Vintners to blend Old World elegance with New World vitality, crafting wines that capture the spirit of two lands in every bottle.
Guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention, Alexandre and Léo let nature lead. They work mainly with certified organic vineyards, honouring each vine’s unique cycle. From the first bud to the final bottle, every decision is made in dialogue with the land.
Our labels are graced each year by bespoke paintings from South African artists, their brushwork capturing the light, colour and textures of our collection. For our 2024 vintage, Talita Calitz’s delicate strokes evoke the first glimmers of dawn over a fynbos landscape.
